The AvantGo Illustration Style qualifies as semi-realistic, and falls between photo-realism and the cartoon genre. The style should be consistent throughout the site and in any print collateral. An important aspect of the AvantGo illustration style is context. If illustration is being done for an AvantGo Mobile Internet application, the AMI palette should be used along with the skin tone palette for any people in the composition. An AMI piece should have a little more motion and overall pizzazz than a similar piece done for AvantGo Enterprise, which strives to convey a slightly more conservative, businesslike approach.
In general, illustrations should have plenty of white space and not be boxed in by complicated or cluttered compositions.
AvantGo illustrations can be rendered in full color, quadtone, or wireframe. Full color illustration should be used when a main focal point is desired. Secondary focal points should be rendered in quadtone, and other elements should be rendered in wire frame. Each style will be explained in detail later in this section.
